Think of Davina as a musical concierge.She met with us initially to understand the vision we had for our wedding, the ambiance we wanted to create and the type of music we were looking for. Davina then took this knowledge and understanding and translated it into a band, songs and equipment.           "I was in the planning stages for my recent wedding, and I knew for sure that I wanted live music, but I had never booked musicians before, and I had no idea where to start. A mutual acquaintance recommended Davina so I called her up. Davina met with me, and we sat down and planned the music for the evening together. The music was divided into two 'periods' to match the guests’ activities.  First, there was a smooth jazz cocktail group, playing as the guests arrived and started to mingle. They set the mood beautifully, creating an elegant and stylish backdrop that continued all through dinner.  After dinner, there was a fabulous dance band. They did an amazing job of entertaining our guests until the end of the evening. They got everyone up dancing and enjoying the music. At the planning stage, Davina provided excellent thoughts and suggestions.  Her experience and expertise were clearly evident.  She asked thoughtful questions about how the evening would unfold, my objectives, the group demographics and musical tastes.   She delved into details.  As a result, the plan was so easy to put together - and it was clear and unambiguous. The smooth jazz group created a tasteful ambiance during the cocktail party - a perfect backdrop without being overwhelming.  The dance band - what can I say.  Amazing.  Even the bar tenders were dancing.  When I asked people how they enjoyed the evening, every single one of them said "The band was fantastic".  Not the food, the decorations or the hall (all of which were really good too) - they all raved about the music.  Importantly, the band created fun for the guests. Davina was accessible, responsive, knowledgeable and professional.  She took care of every aspect of the music for the evening (including during the band’s breaks) and it was delivered flawlessly. Davina was accompanied by a talented piano player, and together they presented a tasteful selection of jazz standards and familiar songs that truly made the evening special.           "Last night Ottawa Life Magazine, Mizrahi Developments and the Ottawa Hospital Foundation's "The Run" hosted a Vernissage and fundraising event in Westboro featuring the wonderful art of Canadian Artist Darlene Kulig. It was a splendid and immensely successful event in no small part thanks to the Davina Pearl Trio (DPT) whose jazz infused music set the tone for the entire evening. The DPT has an understated and very uber cool melodic vibe that hit all the right notes for our guests. DPT is classy, sassy and exceptional musicians and performers.           "I was helping coordinate a celebration to mark the end of a 5-year project at the Ottawa Airport. It was to be an elegant, catered event in the arrivals area hall on the first floor of the terminal. What better to fill the air as people mingled than by having some live music in the background! I had no idea where to look to find musicians so, I turned to Facebook! I made a post describing what I was looking for and was referred to Davina through an acquaintance who answered my post. Davina and I worked closely together to match the type of music her group could provide and what was appropriate for the setting. Because of the space in the arrivals area being wide and open to the third floor, I needed to make sure the sound would not affect operations. She sent me a sample of the style of music that she was proposing and sold us! She knew exactly what I was looking for. She also assured me that the group could adjust the noise level as they played, in case it was too loud, or not loud enough.
